David Moss was born and schooled in East London, South Africa. He went on to complete a National Diploma in Ceramic Design with three distinctions at the Port Elizabeth Technicon (1996- 1998). David lectured in Ceramics at the Russell Road College Art & Design faculty, Port Elizabeth, South Africa (1999 to 2002).
In 2002 he completed a Baccalaureus Technologiae Ceramic Design Degree, Cum Laude at the Port Elizabeth Technicon. David's work is inspired by his love for Koi, a domesticated Japanese fish. David loves working with clay, as he says; "There are so many aspects to the art form." He adds, "In the end, it is up to the process of firing and it is within this unpredictability that the excitement of this form of art lies." He admits that each piece he makes holds a part of him, each with some unique aspect, and character. David currently resides in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, where he runs his own Ceramic Studio, doing commissions and teaching pottery classes and has, over the years, participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in South Africa.
